Article Overview
The following article will describe valid filenames and extensions for use on our servers.
Article Summary
Our servers are designed to respond to many variations of home pages. This can cause confusing results if a customer places more than one valid home page name. Unpredictable results can occur if there are more than one valid home pages in the root of the site.

An issue can occur when a directory or root directory does not have a valid home page too. A directory listing error can occur since there is no home page to display essentially. Make sure there is always a valid home page in your site or directory to assure this error is not displayed.

Valid home pages include:

  • default.asp

  • default.aspx

  • default.htm

  • default.html

  • default.php

  • index.asp

  • index.aspx

  • index.htm

  • index.html

  • index.php

PurgHost does not add any home page types to this valid list due to the already complex and confusing aspect of this type of issue.

REMINDER: TO BE SURE, DO NOT PLACE MORE THAN ONE VALID HOME PAGE IN YOUR SITE.
